Getafe C.F. launches the Superfan project

Alberto Domínguez Hidalgo, Getafe CF supporter, has been awarded the neutralization of his carbon footprint for travelling to see home games as a part of the Superfan project developed by the club and ALLCOT Group. The Emissions Offset Certificate was presented to him in a ceremony at the last match against Athletic C.F in the club VIP area, where he spent time with some of the club’s managers and sponsors.

Alberto Dominguez Hidalgo always travels to watch Getafe CF matches by car from Navalmoral de la Mata, a town in Cáceres, Extremadura. He drives about 400 km over each trip, which results in roughly a 1 tonne of C02 equivalent emissions during the football season. This is added to the total Getafe F.C footprint and the emissions are assigned for offsetting so the club further extends its sustainability initiative, to include one of their fans.

This marks the first fan engagement activity of the Getafe C.F. Superfan project and is a practice that will be continued where fans are invited to tell the Club their own sustainability success stories to have a chance of becoming the next Superfan. ”. The stories can be submitted to

Through the agreement with Allcot, Getafe C.F. demonstrates its environmental commitment and support of climate-friendly operations by neutralizing the greenhouse gases (GHG) it produces. It will support a forestry project, the Brazilian Rosewood Protected Forest Project, with wide-ranging social benefits to the local communities; also, an innovative sustainable merchandising initiative using sustainable timber sourced from the forestry project will provide much needed economic benefits.
